At one point while we were living in Alaska, my husband was building our two-story home, which he had elevated on six feet of concrete blocks. The back roof sloped, and to place the dormer he had constructed a scaffold around that area of the roof. The scaffold was sixteen feet from the ground.

One morning my husband was working on the dormer when the scaffold began to collapse. He lost his balance and fell to the ground, landing on his back. One of the two-by-eight boards, approximately ten feet long, fell across his chest. (The long nails which had secured it were pointing away from him.)

At the time, I was in the house and heard nothing until my husband tapped on the door. When I let him in he was pale, bleeding, and dazed. Immediately I began affirming God's presence and power. I washed the wounds he had sustained when the falling board had cut into his arms, and they began closing even before I put bandages on. My husband then said there was pain in his chest, and he went to lie down. He is not a student of Christian Science, but he said he wished to rely on it for healing in this case and asked if I would pray for him.
