When I was a preschool child, my mother was in deep need...
When I was a preschool child, my mother was in deep need of healing. She had experienced a very unhappy divorce and was left with the care of four children between the ages of six months and six years. She had undergone three major operations, including a hysterectomy and a kidney operation. The doctors had said they could do no more for her and could see no future for her.
At that time one of my aunt's in-laws suggested Mother try Christian Science. (They had been Christian Scientists for many years.) We lived in a small town in the Midwest. My mother called a Christian Science practitioner who lived in a nearby city. The practitioner lovingly assured my mother that God loved her and that she could be healed.
