Something new for me
It was dark and I watched intently as the last students got off the bus. Nancy wasn't among them. Mother had sent me to pick up my sister from a school field trip, and I'd arrived in the parking lot early enough to see the bus come and the first of her classmates get off.
I was beginning to worry. Then someone said he thought he'd seen her get off at a friend's house, before the bus returned to the school. I drove to the nearby friend's house—not so worried now, but feeling confused and a bit angry. The family were surprised to see me. They didn't know anyone had been waiting for Nancy, and the friend's mother had driven her to our home!
Now I was really angry. I'd just wasted more than an hour of my time! Mom had specifically told Nancy that morning that someone would meet her in the parking lot. And I'd left a favorite project to be there! ...
