Responding to true attraction
Someone lost on a starless night or in a blinding blizzard still can get his bearings from a compass. Physical science explains that the compass needle is directed by earth's magnetic field. Christian Science shows that the action of the compass can be taken as a symbol of a powerful divine law of attraction and response that is available to everyone always and under all circumstances.
Because the law of spiritual attraction is divine, it is irresistible, commanding inescapable response. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, explains: "There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit. The pointing of the needle to the pole symbolizes this all-embracing power or the attraction of God, divine Mind." Science and Health, p. 102.
We become conscious of this omnipotent attraction when, through obedience to God's commands, we respond to His perfect government of His creation, including His perfect man. Man is our true identity; and man is God's full and complete expression, inseparable from and directly governed by divine Principle, and lacking nothing.
