Called to practice Christian healing

Each of us has wonderful talents bestowed by God. Our talents are precious resources, and the world is blessed when we use them properly. But if we should fail to appreciate their worth, little benefit would be felt by society, and eventually one's own experience would seem to run dry, like a riverbed when the water has been unwisely diverted.

One talent possessed by everyone needs to be specially cherished. It flows forth from our relationship to God. When we learn of it and use it for the glory of God, our lives begin to blossom like a garden, watered from the abundant spring of our Father's love. This is the talent of spiritual healing, and there are no dry riverbeds in the lives of those who realize its true worth and purpose.

Many devoted Christians are practicing spiritual healing right where they are in their present careers. And they are making a profound difference in the world. For the Christian Scientist, a broader, public practice of Christian healing may quite naturally grow out of the healing work he or she is already doing, which is effectively proving the power of spiritual truth in day-to-day living.
