The comfort that lasts forever
How tender is the healing comfort Christian Science brings us in times of grief. To be able to reach out to Christ, Truth, and find the spiritual and eternal identity of the individual we cherish brings a peace that no physical evidence to the contrary can ever take away.
This spiritual peace is always available to anyone who is willing to turn away from the mental picture of suffering and look to God to find the truth of someone's life. In reality, man coexists with God, with eternal Life and Love. Man always has borne and always will bear witness to the eternality of Love's living and loving. The true and only identity of each individual is that of spiritual man, God's expression, and it is not possible for man to be severed or separated from the source of his life, God.
The physical evidence of death argues sharply and aggressively that it must be accepted as having had the final say over an individual. But this suggestion of the corporeal senses, no matter how acutely we may seem to feel it, never speaks the truth, never tells us the real condition of God's beloved man. God loves man. And the Bible speaks reassuringly of man's security in God through Paul's inspiring words "I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom. 8:38, 39.
