One early spring day I set out to enjoy a round of golf with my friends, fully expecting a good day of fellowship and outdoor activity. Shortly after driving off the tee, I felt something give way in my hip. Since I have always been an active participant in outdoor sports I confidently continued to play, but with increasing difficulty. Finally I returned home, where I decided the best way to get comfortable was to go to bed. However, when I tried to lie down I found that I couldn't. Any position caused me pain.

The next few months were spent in deep study and prayer. It was a period in which my confidence in God's healing presence was strengthened and reinforced. Many nights were spent in a chair, resting in a sitting-up position. This meant there were many waking hours in which to challenge the false belief of disorder. I endeavored to grow in my spiritual understanding of Christian Science, for I knew this Science regenerates and heals under all circumstances.

Earlier, during my participation in football, I had been healed of dislocations and sprains. On those occasions I had received proof that my real being as a perfect idea of Mind was not subject to injury. I was now comforted in knowing that this truth had been proved earlier, and it could release me again. So I sought to perceive more clearly, through spiritually scientific reasoning, that man is the outcome, or reflection, of his perfect creator, God; thus man is without debilitation.
