The unselfed nature of Christian healing
Have you ever thought about the unselfed nature of Christian healing as demonstrated in Christian Science? It is easy to see how unselfed love is so much a part of the life of one who is willing to devote part or all of his time to the public healing practice. He (or she) must demonstrate a Christly love that comforts, and the practitioner must be readily available when that call for help comes.
But unselfed love in the individual who is seeking help is equally important in the demonstration of genuine Christian healing. As Mrs. Eddy states on the first page of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." Science and Health, p. 1.
You may wonder what "an unselfed love" has to do with healing a discordant condition you are now facing. Isn't the very act of turning to God for healing a sufficient expression of unselfed love for there to be healing?
