Healing at camp

The truths you learn in Sunday School stay with you and can bring healing wherever you may be. Here's how a boy in the sixth grade proved this. He was camping out with a bunch of boys. Russ had never been to any kind of summer program before, and he liked it. One very hot day everyone went to the lake. Russ watched the older boys dive and jump from a small cliff into the water. (This was not really a good place for diving, as the lake had large rocks on the bottom. The boys were diving shallow but Russ didn't know this.) He took a running start, tucked his chin down, dived straight into the water, and hit his head on a rock.

(In order to understand what happens next, you need to know a few things about Russ. Ever since he could sit still in a chair, he had gone to a Christian Science Sunday School. He had learned that the Lord's Prayer^{See Matt. 6:9–13 .}—the one Christ Jesus taught his disciples—would always help him. He also learned that "the scientific statement of being,"^{See Science and Health, p. 468.} in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, tells what is true about man. Russ was beginning to understand that he never could be alone, because God is always near. The same truth that Jesus knew when he healed the sick is still present today.)

So it was natural, when Russ came up to the top of the water, that he began silently to pray the Lord's Prayer.
