While I was serving in a Christian Science Reading Room one day, I was approached by a woman who asked how long I'd been a Christian Scientist. When I replied that I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School at the age of seven and she could see that I am now on in years, she was amazed that I've come through all those years without using medical assistance.

I have always been grateful for the help and protection I have had through Science, and I have testified about this from time to time in Wednesday testimony meetings at branch churches. But now I want to help others beyond the sound of my voice.

One day when I was a young woman, while playing golf with friends I was hit in the eye with a golf ball. The sight in that eye was severely affected; I could not make out images at all. My friends insisted upon taking me to the emergency room of a nearby hospital, but when we got there I refused to go in. I was asked if I had so much faith in Christian Science healing that I would decline medical help, and I replied that I did.
