Gaining "a little each day"
"Oh, I used to study Christian Science, but I found it too difficult and demanding," a new acquaintance explained. "I admire you people who do follow it, but it was just too hard for me."
Have you ever felt that Christian Science was "too hard"? Have you ever felt frustrated or discouraged when comparing your present expression of Christliness with the high standard set by Christ Jesus?
It is true that humanity has a very long way to go to measure up to those standards. But no one has to feel inadequate to progress toward this goal. Christian Science helps us to take one step forward at a time. We are not commanded to defeat all sin and materialism in one day, or even in one decade. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy speaks of the disciple gaining "a little each day in the right direction, till at last he finishes his course with joy." Science and Health, p. 21.
