My childhood was almost completely free of illness and I was rarely absent from school. I attended a Christian Science Sunday School up to the age of twenty. While attending a university, I became actively involved in the Christian Science college organization on campus, and so I grew in my understanding of this Science. The atmosphere and healing goals of the college organization brought together students who were united in their purpose to acknowledge and demonstrate the healing, saving Christ.

It was during my university years that I gave serious thought to companionship and my desire to experience pleasant and enriching relationships. Later, I met the man who became my husband. We met at a Wednesday testimony meeting in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. During our engagement I took steps to have class instruction from a dedicated teacher of Christian Science. My husband and I share this wonderfully clear teaching together. In the years since our marriage we have benefited from faithfully attending a branch church and serving the Cause of Christian Science.

I am most grateful for the various steps of employment that have opened for me. I have often pondered this wonderful verse (Ps. 31:3): "For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me." When I was nearing college graduation, I was hired by a personnel director who talked with me about my work in the Christian Science college organization and about Christianity in general. Our mutual respect continued throughout my years of work in that district.
