I had an experience one day in swim practice

I had an experience one day in swim practice. We had to do twelve laps of the tough butterfly stroke, and we were given only half a minute of rest. By the third lap I was really tired. Then I realized that I had "everlasting strength," for I knew that my strength came from God. We read in the Bible (Isa. 26:4), "Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength." I had been the first one in our lane to start. By the time the twelve laps were finished, most of the other kids in our lane stayed out for the rest of the practice. But I stayed in there. I am grateful that God gives us "everlasting strength."

One Thursday morning I woke feeling very tired. I told my mom that I was not feeling well, so she took out her copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She read to me from page 475. I especially liked the part where Mrs. Eddy says: "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements. The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God." After my mom finished reading to me I felt better and went to school. But when I came home for lunch my throat started feeling sore. I started feeling really bad, and I could eat only things that were soft. So I asked my mom to call a Christian Science practitioner.

The next morning I felt better but still had a sore throat. My mom talked with me a while. Then she suggested that she call the practitioner so that I could talk to her. The practitioner helped me understand that the Word of God was with me, and that there was no room for a sore throat in God's kingdom. Her comments helped me a lot. By the end of the day the sore throat was gone, and by the next morning I was completely healed.
