The Golden Rule of Love

It's a temptation to feel hostile toward someone who has deceived or injured us. In fact can't hostility be a defense of sorts?

To human sense such an argument is plausible; but Christ Jesus taught differently. He proved that mankind's only true defense from evil is found in God, good. Jesus supplied us with the Golden Rule for living: "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." He also said, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven." Matt. 7:12; 5:44, 45.

Christ Jesus' teaching reversed the false sense of God's law that was all too commonly held by the people. This false sense had urged men to return evil for evil. Jesus' spiritual unity with the heavenly Father enabled him to know that God is divine Principle, Love. Hatred, greed, and envy have no power to free mortals from evil, to protect them, or to supply one iota of good, for they are not the legitimate action of Love. Love heals, protects, and supplies all our needs.
