I used to be afraid to go in the water
I used to be afraid to go in the water. Then my mom said I was going to have swimming lessons. She told me to remember my dad's favorite hymn from the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 53). It begins, "Everlasting arms of Love/Are beneath, around, above."
I also remembered part of a hymn we sing in Sunday School. It's No. 207, and Mrs. Eddy wrote the words. One line says, "His arm encircles me, and mine, and all." I wasn't afraid anymore.
Now, since I took lessons, I like to swim, and I am thankful for this healing.

I am happy to verify my daughter's testimony. In only four weeks she progressed from being fearful to being happy and confident in the swimming pool. She now can float, swim a little, and even enjoys going underwater. And she has used this experience in overcoming other fears, like fear of thunderstorms. Our gratitude for the opportunity to raise her as a student of Christian Science is unbounded.
