Before I became a teen-ager, my mother was introduced to Christian Science by a sister-in-law. My mother had been quite an avid reader of many works by famous English and American writers. She had talked considerably about what she had read, and I had always found inspiration in what she shared. So after she found Christian Science it was only natural for her to talk at length about Mrs. Eddy's works, especially the textbook, Science and Health.

Up till that time my mother had been quite concerned about her problems and had for many years done a lot of worrying. The book Science and Health enlightened her so keenly that she began to underline passages that inspired her the most. Finally she concluded that her underlining was a bit ridiculous, because eventually she would underline all of the book!

Only in recent years have I realized how much I have benefited from my childhood training. This is because I had the utmost confidence in my mother's interest in Mrs. Eddy's wonderful works. I had a natural childlike faith with a great expectation of good.
