10¢ opened the way to regeneration
Actually it was a heart yearning to know God that prepared the way, but the ten cents did play an interesting part. Here is what happened.
Each year the supporters of a community's symphony would collect used books and later sell them to the public at a bookfair. The enterprise raised some needed funds for the symphony; but at this particular sale there was a considerable added benefit to one of the book buyers as well.
The young woman browsing through the secondhand volumes was a college student. For some months during the previous year she and a close friend had prayed together and earnestly sought to understand the nature of God. The two women had been roommates; but now they attended different universities and were corresponding regularly to share their views about life's meaning and purpose.
