The gift of peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. (John 14:27)

Listen hard for peace.

It is there in the midst of the hubbub
and in the innermost core
of silence.

It is in the eye of the storm
and in the featherfall
of the tireless snow.

It is in the soft answer
to the angry blast.

It is a gift—
a gift "not as the world giveth"
(with the world's ebb and flow)—

It is a gift that will last.

Listen ...
and you will know.
