For forty years, reading the testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel has uplifted me. I feel it is now time for me to share one of many healings I've had through Science, in the hope that it will inspire others.

I was raised in a Protestant religion by parents who were very loving. However, as a youngster I suffered periodically with asthma. The struggles lasted for months, and usually I spent weeks in bed, unable to attend school. My parents took me to physicians; I had many allergy tests and took medication. But I found that the medication only brought temporary relief, never permanent healing. Several of my relatives suffered from the same malady, so it was felt by the family that the problem was hereditary as well as incurable.

When still a youngster, I went to visit my grandmother in a distant town. Upon arrival I realized that Mother had forgotten to pack my medication. But I didn't think about it again until later—during the night—when I became congested and quite frightened. The next morning my grandmother drove me to the home of another relative, who also suffered with asthma, so that I could use her medication. On the way I began to feel much better. It was then I first realized that the medication had only the power I gave it.
