How grateful I am to God for Christian Science and its healing...
How grateful I am to God for Christian Science and its healing power. I have known of this Science for most of my life. The first healing I had was that of a cold. My Sunday School teacher was a Christian Science practitioner. I telephoned her for help, and she invited me to come to her home. She told me which streetcar to take and said that I should ride to the end of the line.
When I got on the streetcar I took a seat and closed my eyes and pondered "the scientific statement of being" over and over until the car reached its destination. By that time the cold was healed. The first part of this statement reads (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." With joy I went to the practitioner's home and told her I was well.
Later on I was healed of a growth in my chest. I had noticed the condition but had neglected to pray about it until one evening I realized that it must not be ignored. I then took my Concordances to the Bible and to Mrs. Eddy's writings and studied references regarding "grow" and "growth." The next day was a workday. I was employed at the Christian Science Publishing House in Boston. I held a job as a proofreader of articles and testimonies for the Christian Science periodicals.
