Our security is assured

How do we determine our security? Do we measure it by the stability of our job, our family, our wealth, our health, or the number of friends that we have? If so, we are depending on particular individuals or some material thing, condition, or circumstance for our happiness.

Because this material view of life is limited and changeable, we can easily become discontented. We may find ourselves on a quest merely for more—for more money, health, or love and appreciation. And we may encounter many upheavals in our lives.

It is comforting to learn through the study of Christian Science that our lives don't have to be out of control. As we humbly seek to know God more, the false evidence of the material senses has less power in our lives. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "It is ignorance and false belief, based on a material sense of things, which hide spiritual beauty and goodness. Understanding this, Paul said: 'Neither death, nor life, ... nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God.'" Science and Health, p. 304.
