Boulder blessings
The boulder loomed dauntingly
in the rushing current.
It was the route to the other side,
but I was scared.
It was high and narrow,
not an easy bridge.
I explored along the bank,
fumbling way off course
and found nothing else.
Other rocks were too small and slippery;
I'd be swept away if I tried to wade.
The boulder was the only way,
so I studied it afresh and saw
that its height and solid foundation
were what I needed.
Strengthened by the courage of Love,
the power of Spirit,
the judgment of Mind,
and the poise of Soul,
I leaped safely, surely across.
So every obstacle,
every stumbling block
in the way of progress
(threatening to trip us
into error's unruly currents)
can be transformed into a steppingstone.
Boulders become beatitudes.
