Intelligence is of God
We don't have to accept limitation regarding our mental ability or aptitudes. Contrary to popular belief, intelligence isn't measured by IQ and academic achievements, or limited by the intellect of ancestors or childhood experiences. True intelligence, wisdom, rationality, and intellectual ability derive from God and are equal to any demand.
Christian Science explains that since man is actually the image and likeness of God, as stated in the first chapter of Genesis, he is therefore the full expression of divine Mind. All that Mind knows, man manifests through reflection. Every activity of the real man is initiated, directed, and controlled by Mind so that man experiences no inability. As the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, explains, "Immortal man was and is God's image or idea, even the infinite expression of infinite Mind, and immortal man is coexistent and coeternal with that Mind." Science and Health, p.336.
If one firmly believes, however, that intellectual ability stems from personal intelligence and brainpower, he will experience the limitations corresponding to this belief. Man's true being is not in matter but is spiritual. In reality he expresses the unlimited intelligence and resources of Mind. Understanding this will have the effect of expanding one's intellectual capacity. Through prayer and spiritual regeneration one can prove that he actually does possess the necessary intelligence, skill, and resourcefulness to handle successfully the tasks that confront him.
