FROM THE DIRECTORS

New appointments

Jean Stark Hebenstreit, C.S.B., has resigned from The Christian Science Board of Directors, effective June 15, 1983, to return to full-time healing and teaching in Kansas City, Missouri. She has long been active in the ministry of Christian Science healing; and while we will miss her wisdom and perception here in Boston, we respect, with sincere gratitude, her strong desire to be again fully active in the healing work of our Church.

We are happy to announce that Ruth Elizabeth Jenks, C.S.B., has been elected to succeed Mrs. Hebenstreit. Mrs. Jenks first came to Boston as Manager of the Department of Practitioners and Nursing Activities, and has most recently served as Clerk of The Mother Church. She has been a Christian Science practitioner and teacher for a number of years, and has also been a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. Prior to coming to Boston, Mrs. Jenks and her family lived in Park Forest, Illinois, where she served her branch church in many capacities.

Assuming the duties of Clerk when Mrs. Jenks joins the Board in June will be Allison W. Phinney, C.S.B. Mr. Phinney has served The Mother Church since 1960 when he joined the Committee on Publication Office, eventually becoming Assistant Manager of the Committees on Publication, and, in 1978, Manager. Mr. Phinney is both a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science. We are indeed grateful for the valuable background of service to The Mother Church that he will bring to the office of Clerk.
