I give thanks to God
I give thanks to God. Through a deeper understanding of Him, I have been freed from the bondage of fear. Three years ago I made a firm commitment to dedicate my life to God. Almost immediately I was faced with a number of physical difficulties, and I became very fearful.
On page 22 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Waking to Christ's demand, mortals experience suffering." This was certainly my experience, and there followed quite a struggle. However, the quotation continues, "This causes them, even as drowning men, to make vigorous efforts to save themselves; and through Christ's precious love these efforts are crowned with success."
One of the difficulties was that of faintness, which seemed to come upon me without warning. Several times I lost consciousness. During this time I was very uncomfortable in crowds, and for some months was unable to sit through a church service or Wednesday testimony meeting. A Christian Science practitioner worked with me; her unwavering stand for Truth brought much inspiration to my study. My family, too, were at all times very loving and understanding.
