FOR CHILDREN

What is your favorite season?

What is your favorite season?

Is it the winter when the snow first falls and the cold, icy wind stings your face? Or is it the long, lazy summer that melts away the cold, and you can play outdoors all day? Or maybe it is the spring when the redwinged blackbirds return and the song sparrows arrive in the trees, making the mornings happy with their sounds.

For me it is the autumn, when the bright green leaves turn golden, speckled with red and brown and orange, and fall gently to the ground, one by one, to make a blanket of color. I love to walk in the leaves, to hear them crackle when they are dry, to feel them heavy on my feet when it has rained, and to watch when the wind swirls them in the air, carrying them away.
