It was just a one-inch advertisement! And yet, the result of answering that ad changed my life.
I had finished high school at an earlier-than-usual age but had not hit my full stride. I had been considered "emotionally immature." My grades in high school were erratic; their overall average precluded my acceptance at any of the universities of my choice. I was, however, accepted at a small mid-western university with very good standards. As the first year was drawing to a close, it was obvious that I was not ready to study—I was too busy having a good time!
