Shoes for God's children

Can God, who is Spirit, supply human needs? Through the spiritual understanding that man is the child of God, made to glorify Him, Christ Jesus showed us that God can. Divine Love maintains, sustains, and loves man—and that means every one of us in our true being. God is responsible for man's existence. Having in reality no Life or Mind separate from God, we can be responsive to His ability to provide. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, the Christian Science textbook, "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all, as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes,—Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply." Science and Health, p. 206.

No one can really lack the spiritual good flowing constantly from God to His children. Faith in our heavenly Father's unchangeable love—coupled with a growing understanding of His power, His availability, and His ability to help us see spiritual fact—demonstrates the eternal supply of good. Mrs. Eddy writes, "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307.

Spiritual support is not of human origin. It comes to us in countless forms, such as faith, hope, spiritual intuition. Prayer can help awaken us to ever-present good. Prayer brings God's saving love into focus as well as the intuition to know and utilize the good at hand. Praying for the reign of divine Principle to be seen, felt, and expressed by all serves to illuminate human consciousness.
