Treat error "with sudden dismissal"
Christian Scientists assign a broader meaning to the word "error" than what it usually denotes. To them it means everything that denies the present perfection of the All-in-all—of God and man made in His spiritual image and likeness.
Part of a description of error given by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures reads, "Error is a supposition that pleasure and pain, that intelligence, substance, life, are existent in matter." Science and Health, p. 472. Sin, disease, and all evil come within this category. The world generally does not see sin and disease as error, for it bases its conclusions on what the material senses report. Christian Science shows that these senses are false interpreters of reality, for they have never cognized God nor His spiritual creation, including man.
Christian Science bases its teachings on the Scriptures, where God is revealed as infinite Spirit, or Mind. Creation, therefore, as the manifestation of God, must be wholly spiritual; and man, described as made in the likeness of God, must be incorporeal, without a physical body or nature. Christ Jesus said, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." John 6:63.
