I used to be a high-school English teacher in a small town in Montana. I was also a speech and debate coach. Both my students and I were very conscientious in keeping up with current events, trends, and major issues affecting our country and the world. And though we were geographically off the beaten path, so to speak, we always tried to look beneath the surface of events.
