Your indissoluble link
In Christ Jesus' time the concept of existence beyond the grave was controversial; it was openly disputed between the Pharisees and the Sadducees. When Jesus' disciples claimed that he had risen, certain of the authorities attempted to discredit Jesus and his disciples. But the disciples spoke the truth fearlessly then and throughout their subsequent careers of teaching and healing.
The disciples had seen Jesus raise Lazarus, Jairus's daughter, and the widow's son at Nain.See John 11:1-44; Mark 5:22-24, 35-42; Luke 7:11-15 . Now he had restored himself. This was proof enough. Here was physical evidence of the spiritual fact that life is continuous. Even the disciple Thomas was finally convinced. So far as Jesus' followers were concerned, immortality was no longer a disputed theory. It was spiritual fact. At last an unbreakable link was perceived between man and his God.
In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "It is only by acknowledging the supremacy of Spirit, which annuls the claims of matter, that mortals can lay off mortality and find the indissoluble spiritual link which establishes man forever in the divine likeness, inseparable from his creator."Science and Health, p. 491.
