Standard of living
There had been so much talk about the economy! Discussions between, interviews with, statements from, points of view of, economists, industrialists, politicians, employers, wage earners, home-makers, shopkeepers—and no two views were quite alike. What a medley of confusion! Always the term "standard of living" kept popping up, and a different standard was proposed every time. "What a load of nonsense this is!" I thought as I switched off the radio and started to turn away to the day's doings.
