The following healing has meant much to me

The following healing has meant much to me. At one time a problem manifested itself in the form of lumps on my body and internal pain. Feeling very fearful, I called my mother, a Christian Science practitioner, for help through prayer. To my surprise she asked, "Have you fallen for that lie?" It was such a relief to hear her laugh. That was the pinprick that deflated the balloon of fear, which had seemed so overwhelming. And, of course, my mother agreed to help me.

Many months of consecrated study followed. We worked with Mrs. Eddy's answer to the question "What is man?" in Science and Health (pp. 475-477), and also this statement from Science and Health (p. 495): "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious— as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony."

My understanding of God, and my conviction in the healing power of the Christ, grew steadily. But after two years the physical release still had not come. At that point my husband and I decided to go on a month's trip to Japan. I wondered how I could go; yet we went ahead with our plans. As it turned out, I was in pain on the airplane and the first night there. Then suddenly I was free!
