The integrity of the Manual
How do we view the Manual of The Mother Church? As a book of rules? As liberating? As a dynamic, loving source of protection for the Church and the individual member?
Because of the vital role the Church Manual plays in guarding and guiding, Christian Scientists have much reason for gratitude to its author, Mary Baker Eddy.
The Manual provides the structure of Church government that holds the Cause of Christian Science together and safeguards its activities. But it also gives rules for the Church administration and for the individual member in maintaining his spiritual progress, morale, and ethics. The more prayerfully one studies its pages, the more clearly he sees the depth of its meaning—and this depth of spiritual meaning is what is most important.
