As a child I spent quite a few years attending a Christian Science Sunday School
As a child I spent quite a few years attending a Christian Science Sunday School. But later marriage and a family seemed to take most of my time, so my study of Science got put aside. After some years of helping my husband in a business venture and running our home and family, one day I found myself confined to bed, physically and mentally exhausted. My husband sent for a doctor, who said that as soon as I was able, I must go to the hospital for tests. But I knew that that way was not for me.
A day or two later a Christian Science practitioner, whom I hadn't seen or been in contact with for more than two years, called to see me. I will always remember seeing her smiling face peeping around the bedroom door and hearing her say, "I wonder who sent me here today!" We both knew the answer—that she had been God-directed. Encouraged by her love and care, I began to diligently study Christian Science, and in a few weeks I was up and about. I began to attend a branch church and to really study the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
What a wonderful statement of Christ Jesus' is found in the Bible (Matt. 17:20): "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." We need never be discouraged as beginners in Science. Science and Health tells us (p. 412), "The great fact that God lovingly governs all, never punishing aught but sin, is your standpoint, from which to advance and destroy the human fear of sickness." Since my healing of exhaustion, my family have all experienced the healing power of divine Love through the study of these two books, the Bible and Science and Health. The protecting power of God's love has been evident during the children's school years; they were almost never ill.
