For a number of years I was unable to raise my arms above my head. After some months' study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (a copy of which had been given to me by a friend), I pondered often these words on page 283: "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." From this I reasoned that because all movement is in and of Mind, there can be no restricted action.
One day, while I was standing in the sun with a basket full of wet clothes, the thought came: "The sun knows nothing of the wet wash, yet the clothes are dried when we let the rays of the sun shine on them. God knows nothing of mankind's sicknesses—yet people are healed when they let the rays of Truth shine in their lives." As I reasoned thus, part of a paragraph from Science and Health came to me (p. 162): "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies." Suddenly I realized that I had hung the entire wash on the line. The line had not been lowered; in fact, I had been reaching up quite high.
This healing has been permanent—all my arm movements are now completely free. For this and for many other healings, I am very grateful to God.
