It is my desire to share my gratitude for the overwhelming sense of peace I have gained through the study of Christian Science. Many remarkable experiences I've had point to the fact that Christian Science is a way of life that can deliver us from any dire situation we might encounter.

Even though I'd attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a child (and had seen and felt the beneficial results of God's healing power), I fell away from the study of this religion. During high school I became disheartened with life. That was in the sixties, just when the use of illicit drugs had become fashionable. I soon found myself experimenting with increasingly dangerous drugs. I also developed alcohol and tobacco habits at that time. Things quickly went from bad to worse, until I realized that I was addicted to an extremely hazardous drug.

I wish I were able to testify that I was healed instantaneously, but this was not the case. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, says in the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 296): "Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self." I had been wandering farther and farther away from God and was now experiencing the suffering mentioned in the above quoted statement.
