When I was expecting my first child, as a matter of course I visited the doctor who would assist with the delivery. In the fourth month of the pregnancy, during an examination this obstetrician said he heard no heartbeat from the fetus. He invited me to take a test to see if the baby was alive. Though I declined, I still left his office in great fear. Afterward, I visited a Christian Science practitioner, who calmed my fears by assuring me that every idea from God, our Father-Mother, is revealed. Since nothing can take Spirit, God, away, nothing can take Spirit's ideas away. With this my fears lessened. In a short time my husband and I went on the month-long vacation we'd been planning. During this period I studied the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy. Also these words from the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 51) held great meaning for me:

Eternal Mind the Potter is,
And thought th' eternal clay:
The hand that fashions is divine,
His works pass not away.
