Should we take God for granted?

If you or I were coming into a dark room, we probably would reach automatically for an electric switch at the side of the door, confident that one would be there and that somewhere an electric bulb would light the room when we flipped the switch. We have come to trust the availability of electric power so much that we take it for granted.

How much more should we learn to accept God's presence and accessibility with unreserved confidence and trust! Shouldn't we become totally confident of God's existence and the availability of His help when sought in the right way? The Bible says, "He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Heb. 11:6.

Confidence in God's actuality can begin with the discernment of what He is—the All-in-all, the only creator of the universe, including man. This creator is omniscient Mind, omnipresent Spirit, and omnipotent Love. There is in fact no other existence or power. These truths may seem to fly in the face of experience, but they can be proved. At any time and at any place, God's existence, His presence, is the eternal, scientific fact we can apply in prayer. Since God, divine Love, is ever present and omnipotent, His loving care and protecting power are ever-available for demonstration. We should always maintain our trust in these facts. Many of our problems and troubles arise from our failures to do so.
