One summer day my friend Jack and I were playing baseball in...
One summer day my friend Jack and I were playing baseball in his backyard. He pitched a slow ball and I foul-tipped it. The ball went over the fence into his neighbor's yard. We went next door to ask the neighbor for the ball, but there was no answer to our knock. They weren't home.
We decided to climb the fence to get the ball. The neighbors had a German shepherd in the yard, so Jack gave me a stick to keep the dog away from me. I didn't feel right about using the stick, but I took it anyway.
I climbed over the fence. The dog was barking loudly. He was waiting for me at the end of the yard. I tried to calm him, but he kept barking. I picked up the ball and the dog came after me. I said, "Stay back!" and I hit him with the stick. Then he bit me twice on the calf of my leg. I climbed back over the fence and went home.
