For goodness' sake

Do we think what we think; do what we do; seek what we seek—for goodness' sake?

Perhaps we need to consider: What is the goodness I'm seeking—whose goodness? Even, what is good?

As is so often the case, when we turn to the words and works of Christ Jesus we find our answer. He surely gave a memorable one that time when a man came to him saying, "Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? "
