One smooth stone

So David prevailed over the Philistine
with a sling and with a stone

(I Samuel 17:50)

Think of it:
no sword, as weapon of aggression,
armed the shepherd lad.
One smooth stone
was all that David had.
Carefully aimed, confidently released
(each action Mind-impelled)
the stone hit its target squarely.
All saw Goliath felled.

If we are faced today
with monstrous burdens of
pain or loss or lack,
we need not tremble—
our one smooth stone
one relevant, spiritual truth.
This, accepted, understood, applied,
can stop and drop
these seeming giants
in their groundless track.
