From childhood I was active in a church of another denomination. A wonderful Sunday School teacher had taught me to love the Bible, and these verses were especially meaningful then: "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world" (Matt. 28:20) and "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in they sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer" (Ps. 19:14).

However, an unhappy incident during high school left me longing to know how to overcome obstacles, not just live with them, and sparked a desire to go forward spiritually. Convinced that healings should be taking place through prayer as they did when Christ Jesus was on earth, I pondered his words concerning the promised Comforter. Then I started investigating other religions earnestly. In time I looked into Christian Science, and it proved to be the perfect answer.

My immediate family was opposed to Science, but my desire to serve God was so strong that I continued to study the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I also read the Christian Science periodicals, joined The Mother Church and a branch church, and made good use of the spiritual truths that were coming alive for me.
