During August of 1979 I visited a dentist to have my teeth cleaned. Before the cleaning X-rays were taken, which the dentist said showed a diseased condition in the bone and tissue structure around my teeth. He recommended that I make an appointment with a periodontic dentist as soon as possible.

Upon my return home I got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner and asked for his prayerful support. I also made an appointment with a periodontic dentist for the following week. At this next appointment X-rays were again taken; they showed a periodontal disease and also that two of my wisdom teeth were in poor condition. The dentist recommended surgery for the diseased bone tissue and urged me to have the wisdom teeth removed.

After I left his office, I did not return or make another appointment. Instead, I again contacted the practitioner. I told him what had occurred that day and that I wished to rely entirely on Christian Science to heal the difficulty. The healing efficacy of Science had been demonstrated to me many times before, and I was sure this challenge could be met in the same way.
