The lines of grace

The lines of grace fall
naturally into the pleasant
places of the heart—
love outpouring
patience assuring
forgiveness on the instant
with the accuser at the door.

Look again: Which the
forgiver and which the forgiven?
In Soul's pure sight
they are alike—
not one better and one worse
but in oneness of reflection,
as in heaven, so on earth.

The lines of grace
travel swiftly and with ease
toward Love's ever-brightening shore,
seeking the pleasant places of the heart
where the Christ
has gone before.
