A glimpse of Love
As I stood there by her bed, watching her sleep,
I felt such a deep, indescribable love—
for just this child?
No.
As I continued watching her—
awed by beauty, innocence, peace—
I realized that love (far-reaching, limitless,
enveloping all)
hints the unmistakable touch of the Christ,
freeing us
from that limited sense of human possession
a mother feels for her own.
For then it seemed
that there, before me, lay sleeping
every child of this world.
