God's law governs man

Does God govern? Is God the lawmaker, and are His laws obeyed? Does man dwell under the government of God? Both the Bible and Christian Science answer yes to these questions.

Some readers of the Bible assume that God governs in heaven but that His reign has been extended only to a limited extent and under restricted conditions to mortals. Isaiah saw God's government as a promise: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder." Isa. 9:6; The life of Christ Jesus means that this promise of Isaiah truly can be fulfilled for all, that the Christ is in reality present with us, now and always. Therefore we can experience divine government unfolding God's plan for His creation in proportion as we accept it.

God's government operates through divine law. This law reveals that man is not mortal, but is the idea of an all-attentive Father-Mother God. And so we learn that man is governed completely and perfectly by the benevolent law of God. In truth, God's hand is in every aspect of man's being. Not, however, according to mortal sense. But mortal sense is a lie and can be reversed.
