Caring for our bodies
"He careth for you." I Pet. 5:7.
Four words and five syllables. Easy enough to say, but endless to fathom. In these simple terms the Bible sums up God's infinite love for us—a love as unconditional as it is universal. Secure in the knowledge and practice of God's love, we can take good care of ourselves.
God keeps His man—our true, eternal selfhood—in perfect harmony. As God's immortal idea, man has identifiable form, or body, but this is not a physical structure. "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements," Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health. Citing the scriptural record that man is God's image and likeness, she goes on to say: "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science. Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique." Science and Health, p. 475.
