Since my earliest memories I have felt God's ever-present love

Since my earliest memories I have felt God's ever-present love. He has been the focal point of my life, my sure foundation. Based on an acknowledgment that divine Love is truly in control of every facet of existence, my life has been graced with joy, hope, fulfillment, and lack of fear. As my spiritual understanding has matured through study, Christian Science class instruction, and the constant application of spiritual truths, God's allness has become increasingly evident to me.

Wonderfully devoted parents, who were Scientists, and good Sunday School teaching prepared me to carry on alone with a six-month-old baby during a three-year separation from my husband. This was during the Second World War when he was serving in the Navy. Six subsequent moves, each to a different area of the country, benefited both the buyers and sellers of our homes. Paul's admonition in II Corinthians was my prayer in each case (8:11, 14): "As there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. ...That now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality."

Although there were dire medical predictions made during my pregnancy, the birth of our daughter proved totally harmonious. She was delivered easily when I turned wholeheartedly to God and acknowledged His unfoldment of spiritual creation. Near the time of the birth, I smoked my last cigarette; the healing of that desire had been instantaneous. Out of gratitude I joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, the next month, and I have served in various capacities during the last thirty-two years. Membership in The Mother Church also holds deep meaning for me.
