After I had received class instruction in Christian Science...

After I had received class instruction in Christian Science, before my second trip to the annual students' association meeting, I arranged to have an interview with my teacher. For some months I had had a draining sore under my arm. Despite my prayers and the help of a Christian Science practitioner, the condition seemed unyielding.

En route to the meeting, our train was detained because of a flood. While praying to refute this argument of delay, I was reminded of a statement by our Leader (Miscellaneous Writings by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 355): "Less teaching and good healing is to-day the acme of 'well done;' a healing that is not guesswork,—chronic recovery ebbing and flowing,—but instantaneous cure." Soon the train moved forward, and I was confident that from the interview with my teacher and the association address, I would gain an answer to this question of delayed healing.

During the interview the night before the meeting, my teacher said that the address for the next day would help me with this problem. Certain statements were given me to ponder in advance. I was also reminded that there is no law that can fasten a false belief to a spiritual idea.
